The Simple Things

Welcome to another week of the Simple Things, hosted by Simple as That! So, what made you smile this week?

Andrew likes to help me get the mail, and on Wednesday, Southwest sent me a pretend credit card. I love you, Southwest. You are the only airline for me. All others - YUCKO!!! You don't see Southwest getting hijacked, do you?! Anyhoo! I love you, but no credit cards for us. Thanks. Andrew likes the card though. It has a giant airplane on it and he was rather interested in it. Especially since moments later, a Southwest commercial came on and saw that the 2 pictures matched up pretty well.

Of course, he is Mr. Serious, so you can't really tell how excited he is about this card with the airplane on it. Sillypants. :)

Playdoh Day

Andrew loves playdoh! I made some before, just to be sure that he liked it. Well, it's a winner!

Rollin' it...

Make the #1.

I totally made a dinosaur. His name is Fred. LOL!

Getting Organized - Days 7 & 11

So, I've been backed up on posting these since the whole fiasco with the dresser. We got it at the end of December, but it was cracked... The next one came last week and it is perfect! Much better. I'm going to hold off in posting the pics of the boys' room until it is done. It is just insanity right now.

The Pantry and the freezer (Days 7 & 11):

I apparently need to go grocery shopping...

But not for dry good so much. :D

Anyhoo! Now off to clean the boys' closet and get the office situated. UGH!
Hope you are keeping up with the challenges.

Rainy Day Means Make a Fort!

So, my friend, Rachel, and her kids have been making forts all week and Andy got to play in it when I went to the doc last week. Today it was icky and gloomy and no fun due to rain turning on and off. After naptime, Andy and I made a fort! We turned the lights off, had flashlights, and read stories. It made the crazy hour before Jason gets home go by so much faster! YAY for forts!

The Simple Things

It is time again to share the simple thing that made us smile this week! If you want to join in, just go over to Simple as That. For those that don't have a blog, just post a pic on Facebook or email one out to friends and family.

Snow. The snow made me smile this week (well maybe just the first day or two). It made me smile because Andy loved it! He loved that his feet made tracks in the snow. He loved that his feet got stuck in the snow. He loved that he could be outside with a reason to be cold (ok, maybe that's my reason). He loved it! To see more pictures of our snowy adventures, click here and here.

What made you smile this week?

Playing Together (sort of)!

Finally! Andy and Max seem to have a game that they can play together (with us watching close by)! It is so exciting and the funniest thing ever! Tug-of-war!

If you have trouble viewing, click here.

Now, since we have grandparents and great grandparents watching these vids closely, I am sure they are all wondering why a band aid is on Andy's forehead... Or, you never saw that until I said it just now, which made you watch it 4 more times and beginning to think of all the crazy things that could have happened.

Well, while we were going in and out of Andy's room taking things out and placing things here and there (now that the fabulous dresser is up and even more fabulous than we thought)... There was a crash. Followed by a screaming little boy that every parent runs to in a heart beat.

Yep, he thought he could stand on his little chair while we weren't looking. He was right. But, he didn't realize what he would crash into...

The coffee table.

I can actually hear the gasps from the grandmothers (even though they are 5 hours away). And maybe a "I told you to move that thing!"

Ugh! He has a cut on his forehead. Cleverly disguised by Buzz Lightyear, of course. NO! No stitches needed... Not even a drop of blood really. And no concussion - I checked. After being a lifeguard for 6 years (and counting probably...I should get a re-cert, huh? Only a year overdue...), it's kind of embedded into your brain to check for that after busting your noggin... Oh, and no bruise! Yippee!!
Quite an eventful day, eh? Well, at least he is ok and has no bruise/concussion.

Once he was calmed down and semi-happy, Jason looks at him and then at me and says, "I don't know how parents do it! He's going to go to school soon - BY HIMSELF!! What do we do when he gets hurt there?"

I didn't answer then... I wasn't really sure at the time. But, I guess what every parent has done forever. Pray.

Fridays are the Best

Unless you have a glucose test in the morning...lame. But, enough of that!! That is the last time I will ever do it! YAY! But let me just tell you... I was STARVING after my doc appt. The "eating rule" before a glucose test is so mean to pregnant people. SO MEAN! So, after, I went straight to McDonald's (Bad I know. I don't care!!). A bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit never tasted so gooooood!!!!!!!!

Anyway, this morning did have a very cute start. Andrew was just starting to wake up when I went to get him out of bed this morning and ready to go. I said, "Andreeeeewwww, wanna go play with Zach and Grace?" He popped out of bed so fast, eyes still closed a bit a shook his head "yes." What a funny little guy! He loves going over to play with all of Zach's trains and Grace must be awesome. He said her name a few times, I was told! So cute! Zach (with the help of his Mom, of course - thanks!) gave him some train tracks, too! Look how big our "Island of Sofa" is now! I know, it is the Island of Sodor...but he plays behind the sofa...so Island of Sofa.

And that phone below...also a Thomas and Friends gift from Zach. :D He's been "talking" all day to someone and would not stay still for a second to let me take a picture. Probably my fault. See, I walk around the house while I'm on the phone. I also talk with my hands. And, I burst out laughing. Andrew now does all of those things when he is on the phone. Awesome. It's funny to see yourself in another person. Cute, but strange...

Anyhoo! Happy Friday everyone!

I love my job

The hours are terrible in the beginning, but as you go along it just...works! Plus, I have a pretty awesome boss. He may not talk much, but he still gets what he wants. Today, all he wanted to do was pick up people at the airport, head to the farm, and get the kitchen cleaned up. I was almost in trouble when we were at the farm, but it was easily handled once he knew the problem.

Would you like see what my job was like today?

Getting everyone's luggage and ready for pickup.

Filling up the tank at the gas station

Heading out to the farm with the groceries.

"Mama, you are supposed to be working at the farm...not taking 500 pictures." You can totally tell that is what he is thinking. So, I quit for a bit and set up some of the animals.

Apparently, something isn't right... This is where I thought I was in trouble.

Whew! Just a mismatch of the animals. See, there are 2 sheep at the farm. One is a baby (even though it is the same size as the other) and has an ear up. The other has both ears down. My mistake. No worries.

Now is is time to clean up the kitchen before I'm not really sure what. And, yes, that is one of my towels that he has stolen. He knows where I keep them and can reach in the drawer to grab for it (by feel not sight...still a bit too short). He always wants one of the striped ones, too. He must see me clean up with those. They are awesome towels.

Oh, wait! Looks like he got a phone call from...I couldn't make it out. But he had quite a conversation with whoever it was.

I love my job! Even though I do want to pull out my hair sometimes, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the whole world!!

Hello 3rd Trimester

Well, we've arrived to the "I hate being pregnant" stage of pregnancy. I'm not even sure I can list all the things I hate either... I keep changing my mind. But, that's just what you do when you hit week 26. You think, "Third trimester! Whoo hoo!" and then seconds later, "Oh. That means I have to go to the hospital soon." And, then you have a mini panic attack every 10 minutes because you have a toddler running around the house. Which, yes, is very cute and you love it, until you think, "Oh. Uh-oh. TWO of them? Whaaaaaa????" But then you quickly stop thinking that because you all of a sudden want something that is NOT in your kitchen cabinets/pantry/fridge/secret hiding place. Why? That's right... YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT.

And, while you are busy in the kitchen forgetting what you went in there for...because you have prego brain...you start laughing at your insanity. But, making sure you don't laugh too hard (or cough or sneeze - EVER!)...cuz we all know what happens... Yep, instantly we have to find a restroom and quickly.Oh, but don't run there...it'll just make it all worse. Maybe you just shouldn't move for the remainder of this pregnancy. It may make things easier.

Oh, wait. That's right...you have a handful of appointments coming up! YIPPEE! And to start the fun...we have GLUCOSE TESTING! Whoo hoo!! Ok, my idea is that if you passed it last time, you are good to skip this one. I mean, come on, people. I like JUST had Andrew. Ok, fine. So, he is 16 months old. So? My "JUST" stands. They are going to be 18 months apart. Goodness. Do I really have to waste an hour of my life getting poked and prodded with needles and drinking a very sweet drink? LAME. But once that is over, you get to start going every. three. weeks. And, then at some point every two. Then every week. Then every 3-4 days until baby time. Oh. Happy. Day.

I really am excited about this. I'm sure you can tell. :) Really, though. I can't wait to meet Alex. I can't wait to see Andy and Alex together. I can't wait for our family to be completed! But, it's just that time, people. Time to get a move on. Time for the "get this baby out of me" stage. This time I have Andrew to help me through it. I hope these next 13 weeks go flying past us. Otherwise, 3rd Trimester, you and I are in for a rough ride.

Day 9 - Toy Organization

Well, after being "snowed in" (haha) for a day or 2 and being spoiled having Jason home for 4 days instead of the typical weekend, I've been sidetracked on the challenges. But, luckily, the challenges have been things that I've already tackled and have kept clean and organized. Today's challenge is to get the toys organized (and if you do not have kids then to organize your hobby/craft space).

Those of you that know me, know very well that I am OBSESSED with Pottery Barn. However, there are just one too many $ on the tags there. I love every page in their catalogs and drool over every new item. I love you, PB!! Anyway, I love the linen lined baskets. Yeah, I'm one of those people. In our living room, I have one on the bottom shelf of each end table. One is for his "library" and the other for Thomas & Friends accessories.

Currently, Andrew has one of those 9-hole cubbies for his toys with canvas boxes. But, once Alex gets here, that's moving out and the toys will be stored in one of these fantastic baskets:

One for each little guy. And, I'm getting one of those nifty chalkboard markers (the kinds that don't erase without water. These baskets are huge and a perfect size to go at the foot of each crib/bed.
I know, you are trying to figure out how I keep down the toy insanity, right? I don't let him have all of his toys. Each month (or whenever I notice he's getting bored or needs something new going on), I switch out the toys. That way, he doesn't get overloaded with all the new toys and he won't get tired of the same things. It's always new to him. Plus, I have less to deal with (i.e step on, clean up, look at, listen to...) Bonus!

Anyhoo! That's my toy organization story. I hope you all are doing great with these challenges! Head over here for more info:
