Fort Friday!

We finally got to make a tent outside! I think that was on Andrew's summer list for a while now. But, the weatherman didn't care too much about his plans. I cannot believe ALL of the rain that we have had lately! But, being pregnant in the summer, I can't complain - it has been wonderful! I don't think we have seen anything in the 90s for a long time here. Anyway, the tent!

We got about an hour of tent time before we saw the dark clouds and heard the rumbles, but the boys had fun while they could!

 Super fun,  huh? Of course, you can see that we had to move the fort indoors (bottom right picture) because it was getting scary out there! 

 

Eek! 

 Saturday...still raining. UGH. So. Over. This. At least the boys had fun playing a game with Daddy :)

 Alex apparently got worn out! He fell asleep while Jason was laughing like crazy to one of our favorite comedians, Jim Gaffigan! Which, by the way - PLEASE WATCH THIS! He is so funny (and Catholic, so the jokes are even better - trust me!)!!

Jedi Knights-in-Training

A few weeks back, we had some crazy morning storms. It was so dark outside! So, naturally, we set up the tent in the living room and kept the lights off for a good while. They boys were so excited about camping out. Andrew had asked me for flashlights. After some searching (lol- I am a bit unorganized in the flashlight department), I found the glow stick flashlights - one was in an Easter package from Nana and another one I grabbed from Target when I saw it was on clearance. They usually run about 7 or 8 bucks.

Anyway, somehow that decided to use them as light sabers! Ok, first, they have NOT seen any of the Star Wars movies (Though, I CANNOT wait until the day I get to show them!! I love Star Wars!!) and, second...I don't have a second...Hmmm... Whatever, it was so cool. I told them that they looked like my little Jedi, so that got the ball rolling on that idea. They loved it!

Fort FriDAY

Time is flying past me fast than ever these days. Everyone is growing up so fast around here. I am party planning, summer planning, weekend trip planning, and something else I am sure... I meant to post these pics over the weekend, but it got away from me!

Last week, we broke out the Thomas fort and tunnel - woot! And, it was an ALL DAY extravaganza!! So much fun and giggles galore. Alex is at the age where he can play with Andrew much more and love it. He follows him all over the house. And, Andrew - while he loves having his time to himself, he LOVES that he has a best friend 24/7 :)

Build a Fort Day

Ok, really this is almost everyday! This is part of the "Hands On Play Challenge" I found through a favorite blog of mine, Praises of a Wife and Mommy.

The idea of this challenge is to play WITH your kids with NO interruptions. To become more involved with them. To just have fun! And, fun - we definitely had a blast with this!

Andrew, of course, LOVED this idea! Alex really was not sure about the whole thing until he saw his brother laughing uncontrollably in the tent. Only then did he realize that thing Mommy made really was cool. LOL. I hope my coolness lasts. Come on, it should last for a while. I did have basketball going on in the living room one day.

We ended up playing for a long time! They woke up from their nap around 3-ish. We (mostly me, but Andrew helped a bit) made this and played long after Jason got home. I was trying to get the boys to quite so we could scare him when he got home, but Andrew and Alex were laughing and giggling like crazy! It was sooo funny!

Ah, forts. I love forts! I remember when one of my brothers, James, and I built forts together. We had all these insane ideas. We would even beg to go to Lowe's or something just to imagine the amazing forts we could make with PVC pipes and all those other things that look awesome when you are 8 and 4 years old. LOL Good times.
