Chocolate Cake, Obnoxious Song, and Cold Weather - Oh, My!!

Ah, the first week of May. Flowers are in bloom. Birds are singing happy tunes. Treat are being made and movies are being watched. The weather has that hint of frost bite in the air. UM, WHAT?! Yes, the first week of May (the later 1/2 anyway), we were wearing long sleeve shirts, pants, socks, and jackets. Listen, Groundhog... you are out of a job, buddy. I mean, really?! It. Is. May! MAY! Ugh... This is exactly why we ALL still have a cough. It's hot. It's cold. It's raining. It's hot. It's below freezing. No joke. We had a freeze warning. Not. Even. Kidding.

Ok, enough of that. It was a nice, sunny day for Andrew's Spring Program and we had so much fun the rest of the week that it all just evened out somehow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We made an easy peasy chocolate cake!! Now, that I know that I actually have all of these ingredients on hand (usually), we may have this special little treat more often. It was so moist and delish!
'Round and 'round we go!
 Andrew is clearly in chocolate heaven here ;)
 This is why I have double the dishes to do. Everyone has to have their own spoon. These really are their spoons, too. They picked them out at Publix a while back. Andy said they needed to be able to cook with me and have their own stuff. Fine.
 Doesn't that look yummy? Well, it is :)
 Another awesome train track!
 Playing so sweet together
And then yelling...because the school bus is coming! LOL All the kids and the bus driver wave to them. They LOVE it! During the summer, while out on walks, the big kids we see will say, "Hey, you guys are from the window!" Too funny.
 Friday's movie night!! Robin Hood - thanks to Julie for this suggestion! The boys loved it! Jason loved it, too. So much that the darn Rooster's Song got stuck in my head the whole weekend. Shoot...now it's back... Here. Let me share with you the Rooster's Song. Enjoy!
We hope everyone had a great weekend (and stayed warm...)!
Tackling the To-Do List
 GIVEAWAY GOING ON NOW THROUGH JUNE 30TH! CLICK HERE TO ENTER!!
I am getting some things done this weekend finally. They are little things that I could have taken care of, but between getting home from Tennessee and working Vacation Bible School this past week, it's been a bit crazy around here.
Remember how I wrote about making a to-do list board on Pinterest? Well, I have "scratched" some things off and have added some new items. Yay!
Friday, after the boys woke up from their naps, I had paint, paper, and baby wipes set out for them. We made Father's Day cards! Andrew loved it - Alex...not so much. But, we got them done and Jason LOVED them!!
Aren't they cute!? We used regular craft paint and made sure the baby wipe were handy. Black on their arm and gray on their hands to make the golf club. Yellow to make a golf ball. Well, white wasn't exactly going to show up on white paper, right? And - LOL - I was trying to hurry (as the garage door was coming up signaling Jason was home) and write the message...and messed up Alex's. It is supposed to say FORE not for. Ugh, oh well. He loved it and the little guys were so proud of their work. :)
While this was all going on, I  had mixed up some chocolate chip oatmeal cookie dough and made a cookie cake for Jason. I had a lot of dough left so I just made a batch for the freezer. This is the BEST RECIPE ever! They are perfectly moist and soooo yummy!
After dinner, we had movie night and watched the perfect Father's Day movie together - Finding Nemo! I love that movie. It soooo cute. And Dory speaking whale...um the best part! LOL
Once those 2 little ones were done with their movie and ready for bed, I headed back into the kitchen to attempt the 4-Ingredient Bread recipe I found on Pinterest. I admit, I really was not sure this was going to turn out well. But it is awesome. I just mixed up the ingredients and let it rise overnight. Baked it this morning! YUMMY!
Light and fluffy!
Next on the To-Do List:
Figure out how to create a fold-out entertaining station for outside
How is your weekend going? What's on your to do list today?
Movie Night at the Park
Friday was opening night of the movie nights in the park. It was a lot of fun (in the beginning)! We picked up Jason from work then - we were bad - and grabbed some Arby's for dinner (I know! Gotta remember a picnic next time). Anyway, we scored some coupons to the Rocket Center in Huntsville - YAY! Andrew and Alex met a mammoth, saber-toothed tiger, the Vulcan, and (boo!) Spongebob Obnoxious Pants (sorry...I just really hate that show. he was there and Andrew basically had free reign of the park. Yep, no hand holding. He's getting bigger, huh?).
I wish I had thought to take pictures, but, oh well. There were some people shooting free t-shirts from the t-shirt guns and Andrew was seriously trying to get one. Of course, there were 100s of people there and the big kids get a little crazy. I remember those days! I was all about freebie shirts, too. Jason was even out in the crowd trying to score one!
The movie, Cars 2, started around 8:15 and it was kind of weird. And, not in a good way. Cars was a great movie, had great music and even a great message. But, Cars 2 - oh, no. We had to add in KILLING other cars and some crap about oil companies versus going green. UGH! Can we just watch a cute movie, people?! I'm not asking for rainbows and frills here. Kids DO NOT CARE about what the cars are using during their race. They just want to watch a cartoon while we parents get to enjoy something that is a bit better than Sesame Street, ok? We never asked for our 2 year old to watch Rambo or Alien...we want good movies. There. I said it. Kind of. Disney sucks at the moment for me. I'm not a happy parent.
But on a good note, Andrew and Alex understood that we had to leave when the bad car was not being nice (whoever the bad guy is...he was "torturing" one car  - by making him drive super fast on a treadmill and shooting some laser at him while saying that he was going to kill another car if he didn't give in to whatever bologna...so lame. I bet Walt is turning over in in grave...). He was sad, but he said ok and asked for a goody. Yes, baby :)
Note to self: Check out the reviews BEFORE dragging everyone to the park.
Eh, they played on the playground and had a great time, right? No one has asked to watch Cars either - yet. We will try again next time, guys :)
WATCH OUT!
This past weekend we watched The Incredibles together. We've watched it before, but Andrew didn't really get into it. He was more of a Toy Story fan. But, ever since he watched part of it while his friends, Zach and Grace, were over last week, he has like it more. He got really into it! He sat with his Daddy for most of the movie. But, the more intense parts (fighting that bad guy's invention...I don't remember what they called it...), this was the face he gave:
No, he is not scared. LOL. He is very concerned for Mr. Incredible. Jason and I were cracking up. I had tears and he could barely breath. It was so funny! Andrew made this face during all the "fight" scenes. He'd point at the TV and say, "OH!" and made the face. The "Watch Out" face LOL!!!!
