Weekend Goodies

Welcome back FABULOUS weather! We started off our weekend Friday afternoon having lunch and playing in the wonderfully warm sunshine. Yes, We started off with jackets on, but they did come off as the sun continued to shine down on our backyard. So nice! 

 

 Digging for gold. LOL Jason and the boys have been watching "Gold Rush" on the Discovery Channel and are a tad bit obsessed. It is cute, though ;)

 When it wasn't time to dig for gold, it was time to hit the golf course. Hmmm, maybe I should have a post on "Retirement through a Toddler's Eyes"

While Andrew was busy playing golf (Alex had to go in for a nap), I continued reading through this great book. I haven't had this many sticky notes in a book since college. It is SO good. I've already done a handful of Tami's ideas and WOW. Things have been running much smoother here. I'll have a post on this soon.

 Of course, after a while, Andy was worn out, so it was time to go in for a "tiny nap" 

I'm not sure what happened with my little man, but Andy ended up spending Saturday night on our bathroom floor... Poor guy. We had a good evening up until our movie was over (every Saturday night we have pizza movie night). So not sure...he is better now. Just has a mild fever. Weird, right? 

 After a lot of rest for me and the boys, we headed back outside for some good ol' vitamin D. This time it was time for Alex and Daddy to hit the "course."

Ahhh, what a perfect weekend (almost...poor Andy. Get better, baby)!

For my fellow Catholic readers: Cracks. Me. Up. Now, if only I could find one that said something about "consubstantial" - that's the one I always mess up. It just doesn't roll off the tongue very easy, ya know?

For my girls that gotta have their coffee in the morning before the day begins, I bring you "The Coffee Song" by Ralph's World. I heard on one of the kid's music stations in the car! Awesome!!

 Compassion and Communion

This was started by a student at the local Catholic high school as a way to help families in need as they prepare to celebrate their child's First Communion. Ways you can help out are by donating clothing items such as: boys suits. ties, girls' dresses, veils, etc. Click here to find out more about how you can help out a family in need during a very important milestone in a child's Catholic faith.

Andy's Room {update}

Back in January, I shared Andy's room makeover with you. Well, somehow I forgot to share his wall art we finally got up at the beginning of February. I took all of these railroad pictures and LOVED how they turned out. I got huge prints from Walgreens and some cheap frames from Hobby Lobby. Total cost of the project (of course with coupons) was just under $30. YAY!

I had to add in this picture of these guys from the previous post just because they are so adorable. 

Next up: We will be painting Alex's room this coming weekend. The weather was just too nice to not be outside. 74!! Hello!! THIS is why I live in the South! Now, I have to get to brewin' some sweet iced tea, y'all!

A Horse of a Different Color

Er...a boy of a different railroad!

This kid amazes me. Every day it is a different set of tracks! This is what he does:

He dumps it all out. Grabs whichever piece catches his eye first. Then, looks at the piece, then the floor. Then the piece, then the floor. He will do that for a few minutes then BAM! Construction central. Within a few minutes more Andy has constructed a pretty amazing railroad system. He is awesome at this. I asked him why he likes making train tracks so much. His answer, "I like puzzles. This is like a puzzle. I like mazes, too. And, this could be a maze. But my trains start at the station and stop there, too."

I love the way his little mind works!!

Crafting - Toddler Style

 Millions of crayons make for a great afternoon

 

 Especially if there is a box of brand new crayons! Anyone else love that new crayon smell?

 The boys have been working on a weekly project "marking off" each week of Lent. While they are busy adding stickers to their shape of the week, I read them a Station of the Cross or an Easter book.

 One afternoon was a little wild, so we had to chill out a bit. We made some Easter bunnies. Which...on a side note...what on EARTH does an whimsical rabbit have to do with Jesus? I finally figured out the mystery behind the Easter eggs...and that was found in a book. It was not taught in Catholic school or Sunday school... So anyone out there know?

Consignment Sale Shopping

Wowza! I got a LOT of awesome stuff for Andrew at one of the local consignment sales. The best part is that I found great spring/summer wardrobe and spent waaaaay less than I had imagined. I even went back with Kristi on their last day of the sale where they mark most of the items to 1/2 price! Here's a look at what I found for $65!!

 7 super cute shirts

 5 nice pairs of shorts

 3 pajama sets

 2 swim trunks

And, 2 swim shorts, 2 outfits, and 3 shirts for Alex

On the 1/2 price day, I got about 5 polos, 2 shorts, and 3 tees for $25! Awesome. I heard about a few other consignment sales going on around the area so I hope to check those out for a few other items on the never-ending list. Anyone else score big last month?
