The Last of April

April showers bring? Freezing cold weather, apparently. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD?! It was 37 this morning. Ok, fine. 43 with the "feels like" reading of 37. Either way it is totally uncalled for...

We did end it on a good note, though! The farmers market, the ice cream shop, parks, and popsicles. YAY! Let's hope this yucky May beginning gets better soon! We are SO ready for summer!!

{SATURDAY}

 Andrew and I left early Saturday morning for the opening day of Pepper Place. We started out morning off right with a trip to Dunkin Donuts (Andrew even picked out ones for Daddy and Alex to have when we got home). Gotta love a good sprinkle donut! He LOVED that he had his own bag to carry his market picks. We got to this one table filled with his favorite - sweet potatoes - and was DYING for this one huge one the he just had to have. Luckily, the girl working the table switched around the buckets and let him have that specific potato. Too cute! We bought a lot of great items, other than that one sweet potato, of course. Andy's next favorite find was a rather large and decadent chocolate truffle. Oh, my. He may still be bouncing of the walls - and it's a week later! Kidding - sorta... Our other yummy treasures were perfectly crisp salad greens, tomatoes, sweet onions, cucumbers, fresh baked bread (another one of Andy's wants...even though I could just make this LOL) and a TON of strawberries (about 10 cups worth - 8 of those cups are in the freezer now). It was a great morning and we were both very happy that the rain stayed away while we were out.

We came back home to get Daddy and Alex. After some errands were made and lunch was eaten, it was time to settle down for quiet/nap time. While I had a bit of free time, I flash froze the strawberries and onions. I also made some homemade garlic croutons with the challah bread we never got around to using. And, wow! Jason said that they are the best :) Love it!

{SUNDAY}

 We added a new game to our collection for the boys. Last week, Alex and I found this little dominoes game in the bargain bins at Books-A-Million for $5. The pieces are HUGE and the boys love the bugs all over them. They are pretty good at it, too. Glad it is a winner!

{MONDAY}

  Being silly with popsicles. Remind any locals of anyone???

How about now? Gotta love the Vulcan.

{TUESDAY}

 Alex and I at our favorite lunch place on a school day - we love Zoe's!!

Alex check out the chinchilla at the library. He was so happy that this one came down to see him. They are usually up top and hiding. Fun!

 After school playground fun :)

  And a happy end-of-April surprise!! Ice Cream Shop!! Alex chose the "Superman" ice cream. It is red, blue, and yellow. I am guessing it is vanilla? I'm not entirely sure. He loved it so that is all that matters to me. Andrew chose the "Smurf" ice cream. It is blue with marshmallows thrown around inside. That one tastes like cotton candy, I am told, by a little guy sitting at the next table. Ice cream shops are so much fun! We can't wait to go back...when it is HOT again!

 Playing outside after getting back home to enjoy the weather as much as possible before the yucky, cold rain rolls in to annoy us. These guys are getting ready to play golf - they are just too cute :)

Happy End of April!!

The Last 2 Weeks

Holy. Moly.

I get the idea that child number 3 an easier transition that child number 2. But, the pregnancy? Oh, my. I have never been so tired. I'm gone by the boys go down for nap time / quiet time. Goodness.

Anyway, here is a quick recap of the past two weeks at the house. Hope everyone is doing well and surviving the green death - also known as...pollen.

{Week 1: April 1-6}

We had a great first week of April! We played a lot outside with new sidewalk chalk and bubbles (thanks Kristie!). Alex and Braxton (and his cousins) played at the McWane Center. Alex fell asleep during our errand runs. Andy worked on his writing. And, Jason and I finally had a movie night of our own in the comfort of our living room. Great start to April!!

{Week 2: April 7-11}

 This week started off on the obnoxious side.

First, the boys got that wacky-no-reason-that-any-doctor-can-think-of fever virus. It was just a high fever. Nothing else. Super weird. Anyway, so because of that I couldn't have anyone watch the boys while I went to my ultrasound/checkup. I finally got Jason to stay home. I had already changed this appointment, like, 3 times. I was going to see this baby Monday, people. Not any other day. So, off I go...to find this...

Um, what?! Yep. A fire truck. Sweet. And where are the firemen? In my tower the floor below where I was headed... Nice. When is my appointment? In 15 minutes... I ran into some nurses and found out that there was an equipment fire on the 5th floor. And the whole tower was shut down for (what we thought) another hour or so... ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME?! Luckily, by 9-something, we were finally able to get to where we were going. But the elevators where booting up, so took the stairs. And, getting your blood pressure taken once you arrive after taking 8 flights of stairs is not good. Anyway, an hour later, I finally get to see this:

 Baby number 3!!! If you look really closely, you can see little arm and leg buds. Cute.

And later that day...we came back to the doctor. On the other side of the hospital campus for the boys' appointments. Where, magically, their high fevers disappeared. It would be nice if that magic portal would appear in a much more convenient place...like the doorway to their rooms or something. Sheesh.

I had to take this pic. Bad day for BURGER King if that is all they have. Though, I wouldn't mind a Coffee King. Yum.

Taking a day off from school to make sure Andy is better.

Getting a car wash with yummy Sonic slushies. Those always make people feel better.

Yucky, rainy day Thursday...

So we made paper airplanes and turned our living room into an air show! Andy LOVED it! He is pretty good at throwing them, too. He made his plane go really far!! Here is the paper airplane we made, if you want to have an air show, too.

That is it for the first two weeks of April. Next up:

Alex's 2nd birthday!!!!

April's Top Posts

Another month has flown by and another one freshly started!I was talking to a friend today and the thought of the end of the school year approaching scared us. Only, she knew what day it was going to happen. Me? I'm living in la la land and didn't even realize it was coming up. So, thanks to her I will be coming up with some things for the summer time for these two monkeys that live here. I'm sure the zoo and the playground will be at the top of the list. The Simple Things {Happy Earth Day!}

It's not easy being green, but we do enjoy trying!

God created this beautiful home for us. Let's show we are thankful by keeping it that way.

How do we help?
 ~ Recycle paper, plastic, and cans ~
~ Reusable bags (I hate plastic bags...and I don't need a thousand of them in my house) ~
~ Reuse glass jars for gifts/dry goods/organizing ~

How do you keep it green?

My Little Big Boy: Alex is 1!

Wait, what?! Alex is a 1 year old! WOW! That year went by crazy fast. Last April, he was just a brand new baby. But this April, he's a walking, almost running, toddler!

Isn't he a cutie? ;)

But, again, this year is a little different. Instead of me having to wake him up, he is the little rooster of the house. Here is the birthday boy on the morning of his day!

Up bright and early!

Enjoying some birthday pancakes - aka pancakes with sprinkle on top lol

He got to open the presents from his family before Daddy left for work. Here he is opening a present from Andrew - he picked it out himself, too!!

 2 happy brothers Alex love his markers and Andrew loves that Alex likes it. :)

 Opening his present from all of us. Leap Frog Fridge Phonics :) Really great toy, but omg what an obnoxious song. LOL

 After Jason headed to work, we got silly with decorations.

 They loved the crepe paper "door" and ran through it over and over and OVER again!

 The "door" lasted a good while. But then one snapped off and it got crazy LOL. Andrew covered Alex up in the paper and...

 He decided to swing wildly about - too funny! I love how you can still see him smiling through the paper in the 2nd pic. Very cool.

 Aside from the sillies, I did get some decorations up for the party :)

Mantle: Our birthday banner from Target that I used at Andrew's 2nd birthday. And, mason jars filled with floral sprays and decorated styrofoam Easter eggs. I only bought those eggs (Hobby Lobby). I had everything else in the closet of doom aka the office/playroom closet

I had saved the cute crate from the Melissa and Doug band set and bought some faux grass. Threw in the rest of the styrofoam eggs and done :)

Andrew's last minute basket for school found at CVS ;) Filled that with the rest of the grass and bunch of super cute carrot lollipops from the Dollar Store!

Once my two little monkeys were down for a nap, it was time to get the cupcakes going. I got that new Duncan Hines frosting creations in Bubblegum and Orange Cream. But, really, it was an extremely subtle taste. So, I am not sure I would use it again. But the colors were JUST RIGHT for him - the colors of Pat the Bunny :) That's where this party got started - on Alex's love for "Baby Bunny" aka Pat the Bunny.

 Of course, even though this wasn't party day, we had a mini celebration after dinner (ok, you're right...this is like a whole day of mini celebrations lol) And, yes, his cupcake is bigger - I made a jumbo size for Alex.

 Which he loved...

Can't you tell!? It's upside down and 3/4 gone! LOL

Happy 1st Birthday, Alex!
Daddy, Mommy and Andrew love you so much!
 XOXO

PS. Stayed tuned for the party pics!
