Apparently, Andrew is my only water baby... He loved baths from very start. Alex, on the other hand, is soooo not fond it. He did not like any part of it, except getting out and dried off. Guess I will only have 1 swimmer, huh? Too funny!

 

During...not so much fun, I guess. Maybe next time he will like it better.

My hubby told me he was trying to take some cute pictures... But, he really was recording us! Stinker :) It is cute though. And, yes, this was posted very late at night...Alex's 2am feeding :) Gotta love Mama Multitasking!

Of Elephants and Pancakes

This past Sunday was so nice. We got out of the house for a bit to enjoy the nice weather and check out the new exhibit at our zoo - Trails of Africa! We only saw one elephant, but it was enough for Andrew to thoroughly enjoy. You know how he has a huge elephant obsession! So, he loved it!!

We used our new sit-n-stand stroller, too (That - yes, I'm gonna brag - I got for $89 including the carseat! Go me!). Andrew loved that he was in the "big boy spot" and that he was Alex's helper. :) Anytime Alex's binky fell out, Andrew would turn around and say, "Uh-oh, X." So cute!!

Later that day, dinner turned into breakfast made by 2 of 3 of my favorite men. Yum!

A Month in Photos - April

The Simple Things

A 19 month old, a 2 week old, and a tornado {con't}

The evening that the tornado went through was a rough one for Andrew. See, he sleeps with a humidifier. A loud one that drowns out a ton of noise outside of his bedroom. We have it because he's always had sinus issues since birth, but it seems to be more of a comfort noise to him now. He did not like that it was not on. He didn't even like that the street light outside wasn't on. Even though he has blackout curtains, he still has a bit of that light show through the edges of the curtains. He did fall asleep, but he just couldn't stay asleep. He cried for us and was scared when he couldn't see us anymore. Jason slept in his room for half of the night, but that didn't seem to help. Andrew could see his Daddy in the dark even if he was there. Eventually, Jason brought his mattress in our room and the rest of the night he was soundly sleeping. I wish I had taken a picture of him though... He fell asleep with Tusker in a death grip under one arm and he was hanging on to his flashlight (still on!) with his two little hands. Poor little guy. He had no idea what was the deal with the power and the storm. Maybe he did... He did watch the tornado go through Tuscaloosa with us. That is the story for the #1 Boy.

The littlest one, Alex, was not too thrilled with the fact that we wouldn't swaddle him at night. It did get cool, so he was wrapped up a bit. But not much. Funny...he was exactly 2 weeks old that day and already he had a list of preferences!

Luckily, the weather for Thursday was nice and cool. So, the fact there was no A/C wasn't too much of an issue. The only problem was not knowing if I could get Alex to his 2 week checkup or not... Last we heard was that the interstate was closed. And we knew that our shortcut was probably not the way to go since that's where the tornado went. I did get him there though! But, it was strange. Barely any cars were on the roads... I saw the tornado path for the first time. And, as you came up to the junction in downtown B'ham, it looked as if nothing horrible had happened (minus the fact there wasn't the typical amount of traffic).

But, anyhoo! Once again, our family and neighborhood are all ok. Alex's doctor's appt went well. This is a big kid! At his 1 week checkup he weighed 8 pounds 6 1/2 ounces. This appt...one week later...he weighed 9 pounds 8 ounces!! He loves to eat!! Good thing...this time around I have had a horrible time with breastfeeding. I can't do it. I have nothing for him. So, he is on formula. I try still, but nothing. I've been told by his doc that he's doing so well and all that I need to not beat myself up about it. So, I am trying not too, but you know...

A 19 month old, a 2 week old, and a tornado - WOW

Wow. After Wednesday's storm insanity, I'm not sure where to begin. I started off as a wonderful week at home with my 2 little men and an extra set of helping hands from my MIL. She was a great help with getting me back into our typical routine around here. It was great to have another week of that! She took Andrew out with her to run errands like grocery shopping or getting lunch and such, with gave me time to bond a bit more with Alex, rest, and catch up with the rest of the world. Jason and I even got to go out on another date night (that is a funny story...but hang on for that in a second). So, here a few pictures from the beginning of the week:

See? The beginning of the week is all smiles, lights on, hot water working... Anyway, Jason and I had a date night while Sarah was still in town. We had planned on going out on Wednesday - you know, mid-week, nice break from the world... Well, Mr. Weather Man had other plans and I had the feeling we really needed to just go out Tuesday night instead. So, off to Outback we went. YUM! Ok, we had an awesome dinner for Outback. I'm normally not a big Outback fan. But, it was good! We got a yummy ahi tuna appetizer. Jason had a new steak from the fire-grilled menu. I had a spicy shrimp pasta dish. And we both thought we were full. LOL. The waitress comes back and asks if we wanted dessert. Of course we say no and ask for a to-go box. She returns with the check and we ask her for the Trio Dessert. OMG. Yes, we went from saying no dessert to "actually, we want all of the desserts" hahahahaha! Oh well, right? I'm still not allowed to work out for another 4 weeks so what the heck. It was good!

Now for the madness of it all.

April 27th we are to get severe weather. Like, for real severe weather. Normally, we hear the tornado sirens and it is just a rotation in the air and NEVER close by. Not that day. Sarah and I were waiting for Jason to get home ASAP from a job in Auburn. As he is driving home, we are watching live feed from Tuscaloosa being completely destroyed. I have never seen anything like that before. The movies don't even compare. This was live, for real, and only an hour and a half west of us. We watched as numerous swirling funnels came together to form the super cell monster. It was one of the scariest, yet most amazing things to watch. Minutes later the feed is gone and our satellite tv is trying to keep the signal. At this point, Jason's at the junction just 20 minutes away and I call him to tell him he better drive faster. Thankfully, he gets home before our area is torn through.

Back to the sirens... Usually, we hear these and turn on the tv to see what is going on since they sound for the entire county and go off in certain areas that are ok. I have never heard the sirens stay on for longer than a few minutes. These were just screaming for about 10 minutes before they were cut off. We still had power for about an hour until it was a "brown-out" and then just gone. There was a moment outside where it was calm, quiet, and almost ok. Then, everything went darker and extremely windy. Thinking back, we probably should have been in our safe spot, but before we could decide it had ended. Our home and neighborhood is fine, but 7 minutes from home it is another story. Yes, 7 minutes from the house. I still cannot believe what I see when I drive through town...especially since it is so very close to us.

The neighborhood behind my favorite place - Target. Amazing how tornadoes pick and choose what the want to destroy. As much as I love my Target...that should have been destroyed. Not these people's homes and lives.

This is a warehouse on the back road that I usually take home. It was built only last year I think... This place is only 5 minutes from our neighborhood. 

There are just too many of these pictures now with the tv coverage and internet. I wish that none of this were true. We we lucky to get our power back when we did. Others may have to wait for weeks. Many are probably going to relocate just to start over. Please keep all these people affected by these storms in your prayers.

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter (with some help)!! We are so blessed to have such fantastic friends just a few streets over! With the help of Rachel and her family, we had our first Easter as a family of four (that still hurts my head to say that lol). She is awesome and made most of it, while I chipped in with easy-peasy things. We even had an egg hunt! I love them all!! The "Minos" are so awesome!! Thanks, guys!! I'm sure Andrew was happy to see that not everything had changed when he got to see Zach and Grace again, too!

I know, another quick post!? Once I get the hang of this mom of two thing, I'll be better with posting - promise!!

First Week at Home :)

Hello, all! Just catching up on some photos for everyone to see. We are all doing fantastic! My mom came town to watch Andrew while Alex was born and she stayed through the next week. It was wonderful to have her help, but it was sad to see her go :( My dad and 4 of my brothers came the weekend that we were able to head home. It was great to see everyone with us!

Andrew is loving being a big brother, too! He helps get the binky back in Alex's mouth if it falls out. He runs to him when he is fussing. He "helps" during diaper changes. And, he sits (sometimes) with me during feedings. He is such a great big brother!!

Anyhoo! Here are some pictures from last week!

Date night to celebrate 1 week! My mom watched Alex and Andrew for us while we headed out to Surin West the following Wednesday (Alex's 1 week birthday). Andrew was already in bed and we had a very yummy late dinner. I had SUSHI GALORE!! SO MUCH SUSHI!!! And and very fancy martini!! WHOO HOO for not being prego anymore!! 

Well, stay tuned for more pics!! I'm slowing working on getting our routine going again around here with the help of Jason's mom this week. Wish us luck!!
