A Clean Oven Door

It really is amazing what makes us excited as we get older...

It used to be, "Like, oh my gosh! Britney Spears! I just got her CD!" Now it's, "WHOA! The glass on the oven is clean!" LOL

I cam across this idea on cleaning the glass between the oven door. It does get really gross and, honestly, I am not even sure how.

I had some before pic of my oven and ew. But did my stupid camera save them? NO! What is going on in the world?! I can't even find a pic of the oven anywhere. Oh, well. It was gross... So that was before. And now, I have a fabulously clean oven door!

Yep, angels are singing. I know you can hear them.

Now on my oven, there were two screws on the top corners holding the outside frame to the rest of the door. That is what I took apart to get this job done. They were silly screws, though. I'm not a tool person so I can only describe them as the "Star of David" screw. Seriously, that is what it was.

See it? I wish it were a better picture...

Anyway, I undid the screws and wiped it all down with my vinegar/water cleaner. That was the easy part. The actual inside was much worse. I left some Easy Off on there for the 2hrs during naptime...and, um, no. It was NOT easy to get off. Maybe they meant that it would be easier to tear your arm off... I scrubbed that dang thing for a while and finally gave in to my Magic Eraser. Hello! So much easier. Especially when I realized that there was a textured side...haha. So, now that is all done and all clean! YAY!

Another thing I did attempted today was a diy tune-up of the dishwasher. Yeah, not so much. The little filter thing is screwed to the bottom and impossible to get off. So, I went with running the dishwasher on the hottest setting with only a glass of white vinegar on the top rack. Awesome! Clean and it smells much better.

Anyone get any appliances cleaned up today?

  1. Oh my! Friend, I stumbled over from A bowl full of lemons and am SO PLEASED that I did. The bane of my existence is my nasty oven door. It's a wall oven, so I feel like it's a free for all for everyone to see the grodiness of it! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your tip! I'm excited to look around your blog-you're hilarious!

  2. You are welcome :) I had to tweak Racks & Mooby's tip to my own oven...so you may need to do the same. All ovens are different apparently LOL Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the rest of my posts! :)

  3. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to have to try this because my husband cooked the other night and now the bottom of my oven is pretty bad!

Thanks for linking it up @ Creatively Living!
